NFPA 1925, Standard on Marine Fire-Fighting Vessels, provides minimum requirements for the construction of new marine fire-fighting vessels or the conversion of existing vessels to become marine fire-fighting vessels. . This standard is not intended to serve as a detailed manufacturing or purchase specification, but can be referenced in purchase specifications as minimum requirements. These vessels may have monitor nozzles which typically discharge large volumes of foam. Compliance with the relevant NFPA code applicable to the system is required. In this case, NFPA 11 Standard for Low-, Medium-, and High-Expansion Foam should be used as a reference. An acceptance test (builder’s trial) for each installed proportioner and any corresponding discharge devices must be performed. This should demonstrate the ability to properly proportion foam and operate at discharge design pressures.
